Timeless Otaru Photoshooting with Taisho Romantic Charm
Otaru, a city steeped in Taisho-era romanticism, offers a stylish and classic atmosphere that changes dramatically with each season, making it a perfect destination for photoshooting. Located just an hour's drive from Sapporo, Otaru is highly accessible and has grown increasingly popular as a photoshoot location in Hokkaido in recent years. Many travelers combine photoshooting in both Otaru and Sapporo to take advantage of their proximity and diverse settings.
For those seeking a classic vibe, Otaru is an excellent choice, featuring Western-style brick buildings and a charming retro atmosphere. However, if you wish to capture snow-covered landscapes, Sapporo locations might be more suitable, making a combination of both Otaru and Sapporo an ideal option for winter photoshooting.
Among the top photography locations introduced by Tabidori Otaru, the Otaru Canal area is the most popular. As a well-known tourist spot, the canal is frequently chosen by couples for pre-wedding photoshoots, offering a memorable backdrop for their special moments. Another highly recommended location is Sakaimachi Street, just a short walk from the canal. Lined with various shops, it’s an excellent place to enjoy local delicacies and pick up souvenirs. Photoshoots here capture the joy of sightseeing and natural moments, making it a favorite for those seeking authentic, candid photography.
For a retro vibe, we suggest the Old Temiya Railway Line, a historic railway track that opened in 1880 and was decommissioned in 1985. Today, it’s a unique spot where visitors can feel the history of Otaru while creating timeless photos.
At Tabidori Otaru, we are dedicated to providing the best photoshooting experiences for travelers visiting Hokkaido.
